This is one of the new Heritage Quests introduced with the expansion pack Echoes of Faydwere *EoF*. Unfortunately to even begin this quest you need to kill level 40+ kobolds. These are the only kobolds in the Steamfont Mountains that will produce the starter *An Old Telescopic Lens* for the quest. The best place to try to obtain the starter is in the Mines of Meldrath and one of the entrances to the mine is at -1237 94 1064. The Kobolds usually come in groups of 3 so you have better chances doing it this way vs. the Grikbar Crater Kobolds.

On a side note you may want to take a group into the caves when you do that if your bellow level 55. The kobolds range from level 40-42 and the minotaurs ranging from level 41-44 being high end group mobs.

With the lens obtained you will need to find a gnome that will know something about it. Luckily there is a gnome at the Frugrin Observatory in the Steamfont Mountains that can help you out. Vhizz Frugrin at -958 156 739 in the observatory will tell you the lens you found isn’t too special. However there was a powerful item made by his ancestor that was really special called the “Staff of the Observers”.

After speaking to Vhizz he’ll tell you that he maybe able to find the item if he gets a special lens for his telescope. The special lens you need is from an Evil Eye that “Has not seen the light of day”. Again, luckily there is such an evil eye in Runnyeye in the Enchanted Lands within the chamber of Rulgax. The entrance is at 182 -1 187 in the Runnyeye Citadel. Unfortunately there use to be a back way into the RE citadel but it was taken out. When you go past the mud pit turn left heading down then make another left at the intersection with the eyes. Keep heading down this way and you’ll eventually find the door to the Chamber of Relax *Location 181 -16 188 *. The zone itself is pretty straight forward with Rulgax being a level 43 ^^^ named.

When you’re done with that head back to Vhizz who will tell you that the lens is a perfect match for what he needs. However it is too big and he will need more catalysts to help him out. You will need to find the coldest mana infused crystals, heavy oxidized water and molten mana infused stone.

• 1. Mana Infused Crystals: Found in the Ice Spire Summit zone in EverFrost *EF* last room. You have to kill all the monsters in the last room before you can harvest the crystals around the statue. Entrance to the Ice Spire summit is at -98 59 -903.
• 2. Heavy Oxidized Water: Harvest from a geyser at -585 67 1586 in the Steamfont Mountains.*Note: The water is hard to harvest and it may take several attempts before you get the update*
• 3. Mana Infused Stone: Found at -409 -30 -581 in lavastorm at the destroyed wizard spire. A level 50 named maybe up almost protecting the Mana Infused Stone harvesting spot.

Returning to Vhizz he will take the items from you and use them to scan the Steamfont Mountains. He manages to find the kobold hideout and finds that the King Kobold has the staff. Sadly Vhizz's attempt to blow open the door to the King Kobold's chamber fails. Luckily there is an alternative method of getting into the chamber. Head to 1189 95 1309 where you will find a Grikbar Outcast who has a key to the chamber. You will need the Serilian language to speak to the Kobold which is obtainable in the Gnomeland Security area.

Sadly the outcast will not simply hand over the key but he does have a price. If you bring him the tongues of those that made him an outcast you will be rewarded with the key.

• 1. Scout Pechyooka- Found around -977 71 1298 near the Dragon Hills; however he does roam so you may have to search for him.
• 2. Slave Pechmooka- Found inside the Meldrath mines at -1393 85 1059 and the place holder is “An enslaved Grikbar” at that location.
• 3. Digmaster Peechpooka- Found inside the Grikbar Crater at -174 44 1183. Place holder was “A Grikbar Overseer”; however it is possible that he/it spawns in 1 of 3 locations in the crater. Look for the named or the “A Grikbar Overseer” for confirmation on this named’s location.

With the tongues in hand head back to the outcast Grikbar Kobold for your reward. He will be somewhat gracious for your help in killing the Pech kobold brothers. Now that this part is done you can head out and take care of the final obstacle in your way. You will need to head back to Grikbar Crater and take care of the Kobold King inside an instanced zone. The entrance to the Lair of Rex is at -103 80 1257 and it is in here at -69 80 1294 behind the banner you will find the door to the zone.

Unfortunately this zone is a major pain because if you don’t kill every Kobold in the place the King will call them to his aid. The spell/ability activates when the King Kobolds health drops bellow 50% so again you must clear a good chunk of the zone. Even if you are level 70 this will be problematic if you choose to take on the King Kobold first before eliminating the zone. Once you dispatch the King Kobold you will be rewarded with the Staff of the Observers along with some status points.
