This quest is short however it requires you to kill alot of powerful monsters and requires a big part before finishing it up. You must be level 40 before you can grasp the sword and you have to start the A Key To The Past quest from the librarian in SH. However you only need to start it and you do not have to finish it or be on a specific part to receive the sword itself. Your first task is to head to the spiral staircase in Storm Hold *SH* to grasp the glowing sword. Upon grasping it you will receive a vision of the previous owner following his trek throughout the swords path.
Your first vision is that of Gynok cutting the paws off a peaceful gnoll named Opalia who is located in Blackburrow. This is a nasty 42 ^^^ ghostly gnoll and I recommend bringing a group with if you can. When you head towards the feast hall with all of the gnolls the Opalia ghost will spawn attacking whoever it sees first. Your best bet is to send in your tank to trigger Opalia this way you can prevent any accidental deaths. After killing Opalia you will grasp the sword which will show you a vision of a powerful troll warrior who is located in Storm Hold.
The troll you need is located in the chapel room of Storm Hold and when you enter the room he will spawn. Redak is level 44 ^^^ creature and is powerful so you will need the help of a group to take him down. Once Redak has been killed you will take hold of the sword seeing a vision of its birth. The sword is a very powerful item that was forged within Runnyeye with the hilt being made of rare ebon metal. To make this sword yours you will have to reforge the hilt which will require you to find the tier 5 rare metal ebon. If you are lucky you can usually find it on the broker but it will not be cheap and if you don't want to pay you have to hunt. You will need to hunt in everfrost, lavastorm, feerrott or rivervale in order to find this rare metal. I recommend Feerrott since it is pretty open which makes it easier to avoid the monsters there. With the Ebon cluster in hand you will head to Runnyeye and in Runnyeye you will need to find the forge room.
The forge room is the first little area you will come too and will be filled with anvils and heating devices. You will need to search the little areas for a clickable anvil which will allow you to reforge the hilt of the sword. Luckily there is no tradeskilling involved and you do not have to tradeskill the handle combining the hilt with the sword. Once you reforge the hilt you will grasp the sword again beginning a bloodlust requiring you to kill 1000 sentient beings. Another problem is you cannot go back to your respective city until you complete this quest because they will be kill on site to you *aka KoS*.
Luckily any sentient being counts which means creatures that have intelligence such as gnolls and all *con color doesn't matter either*. You can head out to Antonica going from Blackburrow entrance in Antonica killing gnolls in an oval shape to the back entrance of Blackburrow repeating this process as needed. I recommend getting a ton of gnolls on you then just AoE the crud out of them until all are dead. With your 1000 sentient beings dead in your blood lusted haze you will calm down and grasp the sword one last time swearing it to be yours.
Your final mission to make the sword yours will be to kill Gynok Moltar who is a level 47 ^^^ ghost in stormhold. Gynok is a powerful ghost and will not go down easy so you will need a group to take him down successfully. With your party assembled head to where you first got the sword which will spawn Gynok beginning your battle. After killing Gynok the sword will be made yours after you grasp it for one last time forcing your will upon it.
There is a side quest you can do called "Berik's Revenge" which is received from a dropped item in SH called the Sword of Thunder. After completing the quest you receive the Sword of Thunder which can be broken over the BBC creating a new item. You can create the Electrified Bone Blade Claymore which has different stats than the BBC but has a chance to Proc an effect. You do not have to do the SoT quest in order to complete BBC and it is completely optional. Congratulations on completing The Bone Blade Claymore heritage quest in EverQuest 2.
