These Boots Were Made For...

This is one of the earlier heritage quests you can get in EverQuest 2 from a little wise cracking dwarf. It is a long drawn out quest requiring you to venture to too many different places including a wait time of 1hour real time or 24hrs game time.

I first recommend that you wait to be atleast level 21-24 before attempting this because it gets rough near the end. However if you have some high level 20+ friends this can be made a cake walk if done correctly. When you're ready to attempt this quest head to the little outlook keep on the Northern side of Antonica where Hawl Rucksif resides. This quest has been recently updated and instead of having to toil collecting 100 wood and ore you need a measly 15-25 samples of each.

When you have harvested all of those resources you will return to Rucksif who will ask you to go out and get him three items. These items can be found in blackburrow, storm hold and in the fields of the thundering steppes past thundermist village. Your first job will be to kill some black burrow gnoll miners and excavators for your first update being a type of mineral. It may take several kills to finally get the update and once you have it you will head to Storm Hold for your second update. This time you will need to kill a named mob called the Caveroot Horror. The Caveroot Horror can be spawned by clearing the little area where the library entrance is in Storm Hold. It may take up to nine clears for it to spawn so don't get discouraged if it doesn't show up automatically.

Once you have those two updates the real challenge begins with you having to kill a powerful named griffon Bloodtalon. He has a Place Holder *PH* called a majestic griffon that you must kill to make him spawn if he isn't up. Bloodtalon is a level 27 ^^^ mob that got update along with this quest having a nasty DoT that can really hurt the tank. If you don't have a healer I recommend getting a Paladin and having superior dps to take him down quickly. Without the superior dps it will be tough to take him down however if you have a friendly high level tank passing through you can use an old method.

If you don't want any treasure off him you can attack Bloodtalon then have the tank pull it off you and onto him. Just have your high level tank stand there and you can wail on Bloodtalon freely until you manage to KO him. Once you have all of the parts head back to Rucksif who will say he's thirsty and wants a bit of a drink. However not just any old drink will do and will ask you to get some good old blackburrow stout from a keg in blackburrow. There are two ways *3rd secret way* of getting to this location in blackburrow and I recommend the 2nd way which practically takes you to the location.

With you being the major adventurer you are you have probably noticed an island with a log on it leading into a mountain style area in Antonica toward the southern area. You will swim towards this island wading through the amounts of gnolls to a secluded area. If you're lucky a named might be up and you can nab him for some AA points, loot and extra xp on your journey. In this secluded area there is a tree which has a door leading into Blackburrow which should put you right near the refinery area where the stout is kept. You may have to clear this area allowing you to search around a bit eventually finding the particular keg you need.

After you get the stout and return to Rucksif he will pester you again saying his grandfather is wailing, moaning, and other ghostly stuff. Rucksif will charge you with putting his dear old grandpa to rest which isn't to far away from him. You will probably want to get a group together for this because his grandpa won't go without a fight and he is a level 24-26 ^^^ ghost. Now that you have laid dear grandpappy to rest you want your boots from this little dwarf and won't take no for an answer. Your near final task will be to gather some resources to make some nice new boots.

Heading back to the Thundering Steppes you will have to hunt for some elusive creatures known as Mature Antelope. These guys are hard to find and usually come in big groups of 5+ so be prepared for a hard fight. If you have an extra caster with you just AoE them if you are in the clear which should help take them down fast. Once you have this update your next target will be the Firerock scouts which give you some metal ore you need. It will take several kills before you finally receive the update and when you have accomplished that you will head over to Minty Frostbeard in Thundermist Village.

She is in one of the little huts in this small village and talking to her she will tell you it will take 1 day in order to make the boots. Luckily this isn't true for real life and will only require you to wait 1 hour or so real life time for them to be completed. Once they are done she'll hand them over to you and you will return to Rucksif who will give you the nasty boots off his feet as your reward with some status. If you have the Kingdom of Sky expansion pack you will gain some AA as well for completing this heritage quest. Congratulations upon completing the Dwarven Work Boots heritage quest and enduring the little dwarf's demands.
