Venril Sathir

Zone Walkthrough/Information

This fight can be considered one of the most difficult in Kunark unless it has been recently updated. During the course of the fight you will have to be aware of atleast 4-5 things going on including the required statue clicking, 65% problem and Venril's permanent buff. Unfortunately this update is required for an epic weapon update for the Troubador or Dirge class. However beyond that he is only required for the main Raid quest with Kunark. You do not need to kill him to progress due to the Leviathan update that was put into the game.

As you enter the zone you will see two level 81-83x4 statues guarding Venril Sathir. These statues do not have any abilities and require very little effort to defeat. Once these creatures are defeated you can setup Venril where you want to, but generally he is tanked near the doorway you go through to the main room he is in. You WILL NEED 1 healer in each group that has a group Noxious cure to assist with the fight. If you do not do this each person in that group will need atleast 25-30 cure noxious potions. During the fight Venril will cast an AoE noxious spell that can quickly kill anyone in the raid that isn't cured instantly or near instantly.

You will need atleast one person with the cube (Soul Cube) from the Tomb of Thuuga clicking on statues in the back to deactivate them. This is sometimes done with two people which helps speed up the process, but it isn't required. Also at 65-66% you will need another person with another cube to deactivate Venril's special ability he tries to cast. If he manages to cast it the ability will instantly wipe out everyone within the raid. However once you deactivate this ability Venril will curse everyone in the group with a non-removable impairment that monitors your Mana consumption. If anyone in the raid drops bellow 25-30% Venril will start to summon ghostly warrior adds that are level 85x4 epics. Getting too many of these can cause the entire raid to wipe because they do a fair amount of damage. Now if a raid member goes over 65-70% mana Venril will start randomly targeting people and killing them. He will also charm the person that went over that 65-70% having them kill everyone.

The best strategy for the fight is to have everyone within range of the group nox cure healers and start the battle slowly quickly whittling down their mana to 45-50%. Your melee dps will need to be in crouch/walk mode as they are attack Venril because he has a constant buff on him that will cause people to be feared for 5-10seconds. The buff goes off on every 10-15% of the hits he receives which can devastate any combo attack that is currently being used.

After the Mana Monitor impairment goes on the raid Venril will randomly cast a mana impairment called Mana Sacrifice on a raid party member. This will cause people to consume mana 100% faster or cause their mana to increase dramatically. Raid members will need to constantly watch their impairment windows to see if they have this one them. If someone does they will need to instantly stop what they are doing an either resort to Auto-Attacking if they are melee dps or just stand there if they are a caster class. The hard part is this impairment can go on a healer and will require other healers to pick up the slack. Each raid member will need atleast 10-15 noxious cure potions on them because if it goes on the group's healer that is supposed to cure the noxious impairment they will die.

This raid will require some practice, but can be done with some hard work. In this author's humblest oppinion this fight is almost as hard if not harder than the fight with Lord Trakanon in Veeshan's Peak. Thanks for this write up goes to a fansite community staff member for helping the author to remember the fight.
